Hi guys. I've been using a coolsat 5000 receiver for some time now. I have a dish with a dishpro lnb on it. I recently suscribed to direct tv and I'm installing it myself. So here's the question. Can I set my coolsat on sat. 101.0 west direct tv and locate the satelite using my old dish and lnb? And if so, do I have to change any of the settings. The only thing I want to use the coolsat for is locating the satelite

unfortunately no

DirecTv uses its own proprietary encoding (DSS)...the 5000 decodes DVB so it wont work. You would need a DirecTv receiver (and probably a different LNB)

I have a DirectTv receiver and I have ordered an LNB. I was just wondering if the coolsat would recognize the satelite with the Dpro LNB . I knew it wouldn't decode the transmission. Just trying to save time while waiting for the other LNB.

all DBS transponders on 101 are owned by Direct so you'd have to wait

well sort of.....you could hook up the LNB that you have and select a channel with an odd transponder. On a bandstacked LNB (DishPro is bandstacked) the Vertical (or in this case odd) transponders are "normal"....its the Horizontals that are whacked
