question on 2 tuners on 625 and 942 dvr.

i have a dish 1000, one line going to each dvr , and at each dvr i have a dppplus separator. my question is how can i get 2 tuners to work? it seemed like it used to work now all of the sudden its gone. i just tried to record another program at the same time and there was a conflict. also i tried to swap and PIP and it wornt work. any suggestions?
