Please help in letting me know how to add 61.5 Sat For free and no commitment?

Ofcourse Dish Network options are 60$ (I guess) or 2 yrs commitment.

Please post if you have been successful (and how) in adding the sat for free and no commitment via Dish.

When I contacted E today they told me that I would just need another LBN added to my current dish. Then once my locals go live at 61.5 I would be able to receive programming from that location also.

I was under the impression that I would need a second dish but I guess not.

Here was my situation...It may or may not help you...

I have a DISH 500 at 110/119 and a wing dish at 61.5 that was put up originally for some locals that were there but have long since moved over to 110, so basically I wasn't using the wing dish for anything since all it got me were the foriegn channels and a few PPV channels which I rarely use.
Then, in December when I DIU to HD and a 722, the installer said that since I already had the wing dish I wouldn't need anything looking at 129. However, I was not aware at the time that my HD RSN (FSN Cincinnati) was only on 129. Since the main reason I went HD was to get the Reds in HD, I was, to say the least disapointed. I was just going to move the dish myself, but I decided to wait until the leaves came out on a tree that I thought might be a problem.
Then a few weeks ago when I was calling DISH about an unrelated matter, I asked to speak to a tech CSR and explained my problem. I told them that even tho I was unaware that FSN Cincy HD was only on 129, the installer should have known that, and that I should have a dish looking at 129. He agreed, and would send someone to move the dish for me for $50. When I reminded him that this should have been part of the original install, he agreed again and credited my bill for $50. Then when the installer came out, he said that the tree shouldn't be a problem, moved the dish, and even put new connectors and new cable running into the house, free of charge. (I did tip him $20 for doing a great job!) So now everything is good, and the Reds look great in HD!!!...:up

I would suggest calling and not stop until you get a CSR who will "play ball" with you...:luvlove:

I'd start with "please" and work my way up to...

"D* has offered my HD locals since _____. I've been patiently waiting for E* because I was told that E* would always provide the equipment required to receive the channels in my subscription at no additional cost. Of course if I switched to D* now, I could apply the $xx to the D* install and only need one dish for all my programming."

FWIW I got my 61.5 wing dish installed free with no commitment. And I barely got past "please" :)

Can someone confirm what I was told by a CSR via webchat? I wasn't quite sure that I could get 61.5 on my current dish by just adding another LBN. The talk around here seems to be that you need a second dish (wing dish) to get 61.5 at all.

You haven't provided enough info. It really depends on what dish(es) and programing packages you have.

But if you have a dish 1000 and sub to AT 100 etc. or dishHD (only), then NO you can't just add an LNB. You need to "see" sats at 110/119 and 61.5 (and 129 if you have RSNs). One dish will not span that arc in the sky.

What TalonDancer said............To put it plainly, that CSR is FOS. ;) Ain't no way one dish is gonna be able to see 110/119/129 AND 61.5 no matter how many LNB's ya have.

Thank you Talon.

I have followed your advice and used the same pointers as given by you and others which are below and I used them in the same order.

"I was promised dish will get my HD locals when ever available in my area for free when I signed up with Dish"
"My local cable company does not charge me for something that they choose to change in there infrastructure"
"I did not choose to place the HD locals on 61.5, Dish did, so it isnt fair I have to pay for it"

Then the original CSR said "Okay Sir so you dispute the charge, in that case I will transfer you to a account specialist" I said sure thank you.

Account Specialist came on and I explained in one sentence the first point and said I should not charged the fee or commitment. She immediately said okay we will get the install done with no fee or commitment.

I was like wow you rock. Thank you.

Then she gave me a account specialist ID too to quote incase I have further problems with this install.

Also another point to note is that the original CSR said for people with DHPP the fee is 29.95.

Some other points
I used chat (choose technical issue) first and wasnt able to get the fee and commitment waived
Then I called and again choose technical issue option and got someone from US on the phone, the account specialist also was from US. I called at about 10 am CST.

I will post after my install about how it went.

Thank you very much for everyone who helped and sorry to everyone who felt I should I have searched instead of posting.

This site rocks because people here are very helpful and the staff does not delete posts like mine because I did not search enough.

Sorry...I do currently have the Dish 1000 with the HD Only package (and locals). My dish points to 110/119 & 129.

I wasn't too convinced of what the tech csr told me on chat so I figured coming here would get me a clear answer...thanks.

On a side note, does it matter where in the U.S. I am? I am in West Michigan.

You need another dish for 61.5 and you still want 129 to get Fox Sports Detroit/HD, its only on 129.

Getting 61.5 installed after "moving"

I had a dish 1000 installed in March, now the leaves are coming out and my 129 signal is getting pretty poor. I have another dish from Dtv right beside it, can I use it's lnb and tie it into the 3 lnb on the dish 1000? It has a built in switch , but I don't know what kind. Also I "moved " to get my locals, can I get dish to do an install at my billing address, or will I have to move again? Thanks for any info.

OK, that may be why the tech csr told me what they did. I don't subscribe to my RSN (Fox Sports Detroit) and I'm not sure if it's in HD yet anyway.

Is that the only channel that I would have coming through 129 if I'm on locals and the HD pack only?

Anybody have a pic of the winged dish? I have no idea what it looks like.
"Wing dish" is a slang term for another dish mounted next to your current dish pointed in a different direction. A "wing dish" for 61.5 is typically a Dish 500 which is the same color and roughly the same size as a Dish 1000, only round instead of oval.

They look almost identical from a distance unless you know what to look for or read the large writing on the dish itself :)

Here is an example of 61.5 wing dish 500 mounted on the roof. The little antenna is for Sirius radio. The main dish is a 1000+

call it in as a technical problem. the tech line is usually more willing to help, as most of the people who call them are pissed off. call them, and be nice, and then if they try to charge you for the dish? all you have to do is ACT like you are gonna go off on them, and they will give you the world.

at least that is how it worked out for me.

You cannot use the Dtv dish with E*, they have different LNBs. In order to get service at your house you are going to have to "move" back first to get a tech out to your correct location.
