Question for installers - should I have mine come back and do it right?

Great result, and I really like your method for remote peaking. Sure beats using the wife with the FRS radios and "...no, more left...that's good...DRAT!...no, back again...no, try your other left...!"

I don't think my dishes are peaked, but I almost never have any drop-outs so I'm not inclined to try. Might break something that's not already broken...!

I could probably squeeze another point or two out of everything once I pick up a peak meter, but for now the signal is solid enough that I'm no longer experiencing a break up of the picture!

I had the tech come out for the 3rd time last week to repeak the dish and he did a good job. Slight adjustment and he improved my 129 signals from the low 40s to 50s to the upper 60s and low 70s. I have two transponders that come in at 50. He said the previous tech should have taken a few more minutes and all would have been well. I talked to him about a dish at 61.5 but he pointed into a very dense clump of trees and said, "sure just cut all of them down!" He said it wouldn't work and my 129 was just on the fringes of a big oak branch and my signals would probably go up in the winter when the leaves fall.

That is so not true.

301, 311 receivers have a signal strength between 120 - 125, and dual tuners have signal strength between 110 - 120 from the 119 sat.

Thanks, but no thanks, I think I'll trust the direction of my FSMs, QAS, and trainer on this, especially since it has turned-out to be true.

We did it "your way" with the SuperDish but we do it this way with the Dish 500, especially when we are up on a ladder and the LNB is not within reach to be removed without loosening the dish and turning it to us.

Are you SBCA certified, not that it means a whole lot, but every time I've ever sat in on one of their classes they say not to leave a jumper at the dish. But as you pointed out, sometimes you have to... if the dish is going to be turned away from you and unreachable... then do whatever you need to do.
They don't want it there because of the minimal loss you will have because of the extra connectors and barrel.
