I have a 36" fortec Star Dish beamed on 107.3 West Shaw former Star Choice.

Iknow that all ch are encripted Digicipher exept a few ch like The Shopping Channel.

On Lyngsat they show them to be itc, my question is why c'ant i pick them up
with a linear lnb???

Thanks Bob....VE2 FCZ....

Additionally, you MIGHT be able to pick them up if they are ZeroKey DCII with a skywalker pci card, but most of the ITC DCII feeds are NOT ZeroKey , sadly. Not worth spending any money on it, except as a hobby project. :)

yup you need a DCII receiver. You can get a previously used Starchoice receiver or find a DCII receiver (other than a 4DTV) like a 4200 or a 7150

Another choice would be to use a surplus QPSK - QAM device and build yourself a mini cable headend. (Without having to buy a DCII stb)

This would allow you to watch the freebies on an unlimited number of TVs. (This is the total geek route)

plenty of used Starchoice receivers on Kijiji or go to Goodwill. whether the free channels are worth it is up to you
