I often watch WeatherNation and The Weather Channel for national weather and local weather. The red button is nice for local weather, and so is The Weather Channel app, but I also like the "local on the fives" and "local on the eights" for local weather as well for my zip code. The problem is, is that they don't always show local weather, but things like satellite and radar, and national headlines. So what fives and eights actually show weather for my zip code? Sometimes they show them and sometimes they don't.

Weathernation only uses Weather on the 5s for local affiliates (like KARE11 in the cities). Its a taped forecast that is updated a few times a day. The satellite feed doesnt have this

Weather Channel has Weather on the 8s that should work for your area

Not really. I've seen times where there are 7-day forecasts on each station, and sometimes just satellite/radar or national headlines. When they actually do the 7-day forecast, it goes by the zip code you put in with the red button. I've seen my actual local weather by zip code (55901) on both stations.

Then why ask the question if you just want to argue?

The last time I was at my moms (since I no longer have D*) which was less than a month ago WeatherNation didnt have any local info on the satellite feed. They use to when WC was off Directv. The red button only works on WC (as it says Weather Channel in the corner)

The "Weather on the 5s" local feed is only for the OTA subchannel version like KARE11. There is a taped local forecast in the morning (around 6AM with Sven), around 11ish with whoever is doing the weather then (Pat Evans or Laura Betker), then around 4:30 with Jerrid or Belinda and the last one is around 9:45PM. Weekends it is usually done by the WeatherNation folks.

Well I just saw it again. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't. The question is, when will it show up? There has to be times that it will.

If you have a iPhone. Download the Wx Alert USA app. If you have a tablet, the Weatherbug, or even if you have a local tv station that uses the WSI Corp weather app, that is an alternative for tablets & smartphones.

I use on my desktop Chrome browser. Singer's creations Weather Watcher extention, along with the Weatherbug extension. A lot quicker then flipping over to the weather channels and having to wait 15 minutes for the update.

Keep in mind that if you have a good Internet connection, or the DirecTV box is connected to the Internet. There is the Weather TV app, that you can get, by pressing the right side of the cross, with the okay in the middle.

After working in an airport for three years, and hearing the Weather channel for 12 to 18 hours a day, depending on the shift I was working. I have gotten to detesting even turning to that channel, unless it is a severe event.

in my experience TWC is never consistent with LO8's, they may show true locals everytime one day and less than 1/2 the time the next. It is the same here on DTV or local cable, my guess is a sub feed periodically drops and it just reverts to national.

I really never watched WN when it first was put on, looks to much like a local news station than a national channel to me.

BTW, I use multiple weather apps on my phone/ipad/laptop as well as listen to NOAA. A lot of my friends say when the weather looks bad they stalk my FB page. LOL

We were at my son's graduation this past Saturday. As soon as alerts starting coming through that there was a Tornado sited about 15 miles from our town. You could see everyone pulling their phones out and looking at them. We sat there for about 15 min's after the alert to seek shelter came through. Before the Convention Center staff and school administration decided to move everyone downstairs.

We were half way down the bleachers where we were sitting. When they stated that we could return back to our seats. I would have loved it if there was an actual emergency in the building. Due to everyone was moving so slow to get downstairs. That about 65% of us, would have still been on the main floor.

I have Dish....TWC only....I used ot watch TWC every morning and tune in during significant weather events.
With the changes made by Comcast, to me TWC no longer exists.
It's silly fluff channel that shows light news with a severe left wing editorial bias. Also, the hosts to a person are "all in" that climate change/global warming is absolute and is destroying the planet. The personalities all have "pot committed" to this political cause. PUKE....
Give me Weather Nation. No politics. No silly fluff pieces. Just Weather.
