Question about using External Drive

I understand that an external ESATA drive replaces the internal drive that comes with the HD20/21.

However, can you change back and forth between drives? For instance, if I fill the internal drive, then attach an external, can I ever view the programming on the original internal drive again?

Yes, both drives are available, just not at the same time. You have to disconnect the external drive to access the internal one.
