I had a XM2Go years ago with the clamshell antenna mounted on the inside windowsill, facing south. It never worked well. We live in Oregon and are surrounded by tall trees, evergreen and deciduous.
Am considering SiriusXM home dock with OnyX and asked a friend of mine to come over and see how his portable unit worked. He thought my troubles were that our window had 3M film, double pane gas and perhaps lead in the glass, all contributed to little or no signal and that trees were not the problem.
Took his unit outside and he stuck his clamshell antenna to the side of the house, facing south, right into the tall trees. He got a signal reading of 4-5 bars and fine reception.
What is the deal on trees? Will I be OK in ordering up new equipment?
Thank you
