Hey everyone new to this board...

Im using HR20 box, slimline oval dish with 5lnb built in switch

I noticed about 3 days ago that i had lost several channels to the 771 error.. fox news hd, history channel hd, etc.. I checked the signal meters and realized i wasnt getting anything on 99 and i think it was 103 also.

Now the dish is mounted to the side of my house and has been there for right about 1 year. it has worked flawless the whole time. i reluctantly went outside yesterday and started trying to tweak the adjuster knobs. I can get signal on everything except sat 99. The whole time yesterday out of all the moving around all i could get on sat 99 was a couple blips of signal.. something around 20-30 would pop in for a split second.

Is it possible the lnb is bad? it doesnt seem so to me given the fact the others are receiving signal and if im not mistaken sats 101 and 103 are part of the same "eye" correct?

On to my one other concern.. while outside messing with the dish yesterday i realized my neighbors old huge tree is plush with new growth so i thought damn could the tree have grew into the line of site. i know it has happened to several people and its a very good possibility but again.. if im getting good signal on 101,103,110 and 119 is it possible the tree is interfering with sat 99??

Thanks,
Nick

Yes the tree could very well be giving issues with the 99. It's the farthest left so if the tree is growing on the left side it may be your issue. My question is, is both tuner 1 and tuner 2 giving you the same readings?

:welcome to Satelliteguys Nick!

Hutch is correct, the tree could very well be your issue. Check all of the connections and cables. Can you post all of your signal levels on all of the satellites?

In addition to what the others have offered, if you have an Android smart phone you can download "Satellite AR" for free and check it out. You will just have to line the phone up with where your dish is located. But, once you select "DirecTV" on the app it will show you where all the DirecTV birds are located. This would at least give you some idea about whether or not you really have a tree problem.

both tuners are giving the same reading. i can post my signals later but they arent very good right now because i was messing with it yesterday. i was trying to move it enough that something would show up on sat 99 but like i said all i got was a quick 20-30 pop in a couple times

i was trying to rule a couple things out before i decided to move dish or buy a new lnb... does the one "eye" that has three in it supply 99,101, and 103? if so is it possible for 101 and 103 to be receiving a signal and 99 be dead?

Yes, the one eye has 99, 101, and 103 in it. 99 could be bad and the others working fine.

how can i know for sure which is the problem? i dont have the sight that installers use but the tree looks as though it could be in the way.. seems odd that the others are receiving signal though.. I dont really have the means of checking the lnb so what approach should i take?

You could buy a new one and use it for a spare if it turns out not to be the problem. Can you take a picture from directly behind the dish?
