When receiving OTA, there is actual HD programming and just digital programming. On the 811, will I have to set to HD output to see HDTV and then SD to watch just plain DTV on the same channel?

You set up the connectio between your HD set and the 811 at either 1080i or 720p whatever is supported between the two. The 811 then sends all signals using that resolution and it will either up or downconvert signals to make it match. Then on the 811 you can watch whatever channel you want, no switching of outputs around.
