Question about DPP44 switch

If I was the DNS contractor in this case, I certainly wouldn't have installed a DPP44 switch simply because DISH tells everyone that DPP44 switches are in VERY LIMITED SUPPLY for many months now and only used when needed. But having said that, the Executive Office supplied the customer with the DPP44 switch, not the local DNS office.

Only loser in this case is E* where they're now out whatever cost the DPP44 switch was. The DNS tech. most likely would not get in trouble since it's not always "do as the customer says". If the tech. deemed that a DPP44 switch was not necessary and modified the work order prior to closing it and the activation rep. agreed, then there's no blame to the tech. If that DPP44 switch was supposed to be installed under a special agreement, then the activation rep. would've been dealt the blame since they should've insisted that the DPP44 switch to be used prior to closing it.

This kind of thing happens all the time and unless if it involves a DPP44 switch, it's usually under the radar as other parts are relatively inexpensive. In the ideal sense, this was a waste of money to supply the customer with a DPP44 switch, but hey E* ain't dumb. They most likely factored in these scenarios when pricing their equipment. You just witnessed a whopping decrease in wholesale cost of 211/411/622 receivers so who knows how much these DPP44 switches are marked up.

One thing's for sure though. E*'s executive office goes to great lengths to satisfy their customers, even the savvy and entitled ones.
