Just wondering if a D500 could pick up both 121 and 129? I know a larger dish is needed for a strong signal off of 121, but could a D500 pick up enough to get the EPG info for locals, that is, if it could be aligned to get both 121 and 129.

I'm pulling VOOM off of 61.5, using a D300, but may switch over to 129 if that becomes the home for a significant portion of E*'s HD programming. I could use my D300 for that, but if I could pick up the bonus of getting 121 with a D500, I would go that route.

I get my locals via OTA on an 811, and if I picked up 121, I could get the EPG for those channels. Not a big deal, but it would be helpful.

I do not believe it would work. The DISH500 isn't big enough to pull in a good signal from 121. Also, the DISH500 is designed for two orbital locations 9 degrees apart (110/119) but 121 and 129 are only 8 degrees apart. There's probably other technical reasons it wouldn't work as well.

The 121 is a FSS bird you need an LNB to work with the D500 that would pick it up. I am not sure there is one made, others may know better on that. Also as said the D500 would not have enough gain to work, the 121 needs a bigger dish just to get the signal it does.
