As I await the arrival of my ASC-1, I noticed the following notes regarding installation:

1. Connect a .01 µF, 50 volt (minimum rated) capacitor between the M1 and M2 wires at the actuator motor. The capacitor minimizes the motor RF noise from interfering with the sensor and servo control circuits.

2. Connect a 1000 µF, 5 volt (minimum rated) capacitor between the +5 V and ground wires at the servo motor. The capacitor prevents the voltage drop between the controller and the servo, eliminating the servo motor "fluttering" after channel or polarity changes.

Is this necessary to do with every install or just if you experience any of the noted issues ?
Thanks in advance.

Most system don't need this corrective fix. Bottom line: You don't need a fix if you don't have a problem. :D

Installing a capacitor cross the motor terminals is a possible solution for controlling excessive motor noise. The troubleshooting FAQ contains several solutions for common BUD issues.

The most common solution that I found to address most signaling, switching and control issues on any satellite system is having a proper ground and bonding the dish to the structure ground.
