There is a slight difference between AC-3 and DD in that most laser disk players have a AC-3 RF output and need a RF demodulator to decode the signal before you can use the digital coax input on any HT receiver. A few of the very first DD receivers had a AC-3 RF input that did the job internally but they were hard to find 10 years ago.
There used to be directions on line to make a RF demodulator (how I made mine) but I have not seen the directions in years. The store bought units were VERY expensive. It is just a tiny box and not worth paying that kind of money for. I have not seen a unit for sale in 7 years.
I just looked at mine, and it has a coaxual output and a Toslink output, but no input. While I was at it, my tv doesn't have an input either, but it has a coaxual output. Glad I have an AV Receiver.
