This question is for a Dish installer, What is Dish policy on 2 different accounts and 2 ground floor apartments sharing 1 dish?

As an authorized retailer we often connect multiple accounts to a single dish as long as all the customers are our's and we can change configurations if or when one of the tenants moves. It's usually not a problem unless a switch and power inserter are involved.

Call your local retailer if you have a good one. :)

It’s 1 Dish per customer. Unless the account is setup MDU, you cannot share dishes.

The reason for this is for a few things...

A) Easier to troubleshoot, with no disruption to the other tenant that may or may not be using the system.

B) Dish requires the LNB to be sent back. What happens if customer A disconnects and takes the LNB? Customer B no longer has service.

C) Let’s say both customers disconnect. Who sends the LNB back and who pays?

D) Let’s say a power inserter is involved. They get accidentally unplugged all the time. When a dish is shared, your taking out 2 or more customers over a simple mistake.

It’s against Dish rules. Granted it’s not an issue if your managing the install, but the issue is customers often call dish and not the retailer when they have a problem.

Mine is on my roof and I don’t have a ladder. Plus, my back hurts too much to start climbing up the roof for any unnecessary reason. Dish automatically waived the LNB return as long as the leased receiver is returned.
