I just signed up for directv service yesterday and notice they charged a hardware fee of 25 dollars. Does anyone know what that is for as everything should have been free?

That is a new one. Call Directv and ask. They cannot continue to run up the cost of equipment while giving it away indefinitely.

25 dollars is the hold fee that seen on debit card it is generally released 72 hours after order.
