At home I have the "western arc" setup on my roof (110,119,129). For the last couple years when I tailgate for football games I have taken a spare Dish 500 and my VIP211. I have pointed at 110/119 and also just 61.5 on occasion with no problems.

However, this fall I plan to point towards 72.7 but I have read conflicting information as to whether I will be able to get it with my receiver. Now I know it is an mpeg4 but do I have to be a "new" customer to get it? Does the card in the receiver make a difference?

I don't want to get out there in a few weeks and get stuck.

I don't think the card in the receiver will make any difference. The 211 will pull in authorized channels on 72 just fine.

The VIP211 is a MPEG4 receiver, it will work just fine on an eastern arc satellite. You will just need to do a check switch each time. You my need to do a check switch with nothing attached to the receiver to clear the memory.
