Questgion for the experts ios8.4

Ever since I updated to ios8.4 when I try to text my GF my phone thinks I want to use iMessage which is turned off. So when I try to send it of course give a notice that it cannot sent unless iMessage is turned on.

Any body else have this problem or does anyone have a solution?

Still have same problem now with both of us having new phones with iOS 9.0.2
Currently anyone else texting works just like it should as a SMS message.
I really do not want to use iMessage.
