Quali-tv power question

I just received a quali-tv receiver from the Netherlands.
It has a European plug on the end.I went to radio shack
and bought an adapter for the plugin but the receiver will not turn on.
Do I need an Adapter made for the Netherlands to power up the Quali-tv
or should any European power adapter work?

I'm not sure how the power supply works on the Quali, but it might require 220v. If it does, you can get a transformer. Check for a specifications sticker somewhere on the receiver, that should tell you what the operational voltage range is.

I have a new quali-tv receiver.When I turn it on I get a rolling screen.
I think this is pal.Everything is written in Dutch so I can't see how to set it up.Can anyone who has one help me get it setup? Thanks

Hit the video format button on your remote until the rolling stops. I can't remember which format it is, but it will stop when you hit the right one.

Any questions you have concerning the Q post them here, there are a few of us on this site that have them. Also feel free to PM me with any questions you have. The main thing with this receiver is patience. I have had mine going on 2 years and I learn something new every day, right Al.

I think they bought it from overseas to avoid the 400.00 markup the dealers here charge. The downside is what they are experiencing, no support if you have any problems.

Which is what's keeping me from getting one from overseas. :D

Since you got yours overseas, I don't know what to say about the power, but I got mine from Lee @ MechTech and it had a European cord and a US cord. Jim's idea should be right, use the video format button on your remote.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
I got the receiver up and running.
This is avery nice receiver and it does 4.22
perfectly.

What was the problem? Those of us that are considering tempting fate and ordering one from overseas wanna know. :D

Don't worry.....this will not be the last time we hear from you, right Al ;);)!!!!
You've got that right Jim! This is the "Flakeyest receiver I've ever seen", but I couldn't imagine myself without it. It will eventually overload memory space and get completely out of hand? But, when it works right, and I guess it does most of the time for the most part, it's my favorite receiver!
I think his problem was the receiver defaults to 576p or 576i (PAL) maybe, and he needed to get it to 480p/480i/720p/1080i to get it to work. And it being for Europe, his may not have either of the 480's?

Al you are correct it comes without the 480"s and the only way to get it is to load the latest software after that everything works perfectly.
