Testing new QQ Box

Got a current production QQ Box. Advertising stated DISEqC 1.2 H-H motor control.

Opened it up first thing. Found that there is a mechanical issue with new box. The PCB had to be ground down in length in order to fit it in the enclosure. There was copper foil and fiberglas dust everywhere and a couple of potential shorts. Cleaned it up. The board is identical to the first version, nothing new.
The jet black enclosure is nice looking. There are two red LED that I'm going to change out to blue (power) and green (lock).

The 0288 tuner driver is included on the mini-CD.

Loaded the BlazeVideo software and it works very good in Vista. Scanned in over 200 channels from 97W. Earlier version crashed at about 100 channels.

The included IR remote control and it's function did not work for me, untill I loaded the lmerc.dll file from their website. It has to appear in the remote folder. Then the remote works very good.

DISEqC 1.2 does not work as they advertise. It will not operate an H-H motor.

I doubt that any switch control by DISEqC is possible. I didn't try the 22KHz switch function, that may work.

Worked fine in ProgDVB. But you have to add the lme_DVBS.device to the progDVB modules. This file comes in the download files from lme.

DVB Dream will not work with the 0288 driver. The other QQ Box I have uses a different driver and a different tuner. That works good in DVB Dream.

Hi there, i've just got one of these and am having some issues....

First, some deets:

I know sod all about this satellite stuff. I bought this as my flat (apartment) has a coax connector in my lounge. We have a communal dish but I have no idea if it works or what it's setup is - there are 12 flats in the building if it helps.

The box I received is black with the LME2510C chip and on the sharp tuner, on one side it has a 'w' in a circle with '9 N09 C1' and 'F7HZ7395' on another. I'm no soldering god but it all looked pretty clean and tidy when I opened it up - incidently, mine has two red LEDs.

I read through the thread and fear either mine is screwed of my dish doesn't work.

With the MVB7395 driver, it says I have 2% quality and no signal. When i use the MVB0194 driver, it fluctuates between 5 and 9% quality, still no signal.

This is the same in both BlazeDTV and ProgDVB - DreamDVB won't find the device and just craps out (on Windows 7).

More often than not, when playing about trying to get something to work in ProgDVB, the lock light comes on - I'm assuming this is bad, have no idea what it means :p

Other than smash it with a hammer, I'm not sure what else to do, any thoughts?

Welcome-

It likely won't work with the communal dish as there is likely electronic switches between your lounge and the dish. The QQ Box does not seem to control any DISEqC type of switch. However, you should find out more about the dish. If You got a lock light the tuner is seeing some signal but you must enter the TP freq. to scan it. There is no blind scan for the QQ Box. Please, review the BlazeVideo I just posted and make sure that you have the two needed files installed.

If your flat has a south facing window you might be able to set up a dish there if permitted.

Cheers for the response (and all the great info in the thread) but I think I'm going to have to just put this one down to experience...

It's BSOD'd my media center machine countless times and won't even install on my x64 laptop without BSOD'ing.

Even if it is fully functional - of which I have my doubts - if, as you say, it won't control switches, there's not a lot of point in continuing. In fact, things are getting worse with it, whereas before, ProgDVB would show some signal/quality, it's always zero now.

Then again, maybe it's just me. I'm assuming the dish is pointed at the Astra2d (28.2) satellite but it might not be.

Bah, too many unknowns! Was looking forward to some HD action too :( Guess I'll have to stick with DVB-T

Edit: Regarding setting up a new dish, I could prolly get away with it but my flat is at the back, the dishes (there's a couple) are at the front and there's a building in the way of setting one up outside any of the windows :( Not even sure I could try it round a friends house as the only one I know has a dish has sky hd and that mean a quad lnb which prolly involves some kinda switch?

nedge2k-

I gave up on this for about two weeks and then got back to it with some positive results.
The BlazeDTV 3.5 is less likely to crash. Every time I have booted up with this new QQ Box it has delivered a good HD picture.

You are kinda bugerd with no south view.

Be interesting to try it on your friends dish. I'm not familiar with Sky TV HD functional use of the LNBF. Seems worth a try. Maybe he'll buy it from you ;-)

Things can always get worse....

cheers, I would try try v3.5 but it asks for a serial - even though it was on the disc! doesn't even have a demo mode. they didn't even give me the right plug adapter, had to go and buy one. really not impressed.

will post back if i ever have any luck with it :) so far, this is the only forum thread out there regarding this box with some decent information!

Did some testing of the DISEqC 1.0 / 1.1 switch function and got it to work in BlazeDTV 3.5. It requires that you select "Test" in the setup screen for scanning before you scan. However, The Blaze Video software does not read the data stream properly and all the channels come up as "Unknown" without any reference to what satellite.

LME has developed a chip (lme2510c) that works but they have failed to come up with drivers and software to use it effectively. Even the included CD does not have the files on it to set up the IR Remote or DISEqC Switch function, you have to go to the website and download the driver.rar file and unpack it to find the files.

They sent me a driver that works very well with ProgDVB, DVB Dream and BlazeDTV but was developed for a specific customer and won't work with the current QQ Box Sharp Tuner.

They should invest in driver development software and that should include Linux. That was started and then they backed away from it. This is a slip shod approach to bringing product to market. The Chinese need to learn the Japanese business model.

As far as your "Lock" light, If you get that again, try to scan SKY. You mght just luck out. That light will tell you that the tuner has detected a transponder.

Hi
I bought one QQ-box in ebay.
This works fine in windows (since I use a 2.0 USB port - my PC front USBs apparently arent 2.0).
I need linux driver, but didnt found. Any idea?

Welcome

If you look a couple of pages back in this thread you will find a word doc file with much of what you need to make a Linux driver. If you do roll your own please post here.

one thing, if i scan in prog dvb and there are channels listed in "lost channels", does that mean it's working? because when i click on the, i dont get and a/v, just a popup with the chan name?

i've done some fiddling and it now says i have 3% level and 2% quality but when i scan, i get nothing in lost channels - was it somehow working before? :/

edit: ahh, it was saying no channels because i switched drivers and it decided to use my dvb-t card instead.

If you have a LNBF connected to the QQ Box you should get a signal strength indication of 50 or more. It only means that the box sees the local oscillator of the lnbf. If you have a signal quality (in green) of more then 33 you will be able to scan a channel.

Thing is ProgDVB Scan function used to be really good. When you scanned it would show the channels changing and signal levels also. Now it just does nothing until the scan completion window pops-up. I have experienced it to report lost channels that it did not report were scanned in.

Anytime your running DVB on a PC strange nasty stuff can happen. For any one starting out I would suggest a Set Top Box STB from Ebay like a coolsat 5000 or 6000. They make FTA easy.

BlazeDTV Channel Editor

The DISEqC 1.0 Switch settings work in ProgDVB but you must reset the power supply after scanning channels. The LME driver does not do this correctly.

In BlazeDTV 3.5 the switch functions work but again you must reset the power.

DVB Dream and AltDVB will not support the LME driver for any DISEqC functions. They alert that the LME driver does not support RAW DISEqC codes.

I stumbled on how to delete unwanted channels, see attached manual.

Seems like their site may be down. I heard that China is having issues with YouTube and Google.

This is the current file I have for the QQ Box.

QQ Box LME2510C Wish List

Here is my Wish List:

1- Write LmeRC.dll compatable with Microsoft IR Remote Control. Then any "Universal" IR remote could be used with ProgDVB or DVB Dream. ProgDVB has a "learning" function that allows key assignments.

2- Develope and release a "Linux" driver for the LME2510C.

3- QQ Card PCI DVB-S with "HOT" Sharp Tuner.

QQ Box Linux Driver

IR Remote in ProgDVB-

Please kindly confirm the remote function.

For ProgDVB software, the driver and deivce file can support the remote and "learning " any NEC potocol remote controller.

Linux Driver for QQ Box-

As for the Linux driver, we are developing it now and maybe it will be ready by the end of next month.

Can anyone confirm the NEC remote in Progdvb?

BlazeDTV IR Remote Change

The remote that comes with the QQ Box can be changed out for a Universal IR Remote. Follow the attached guide.
