When I had my Hopper/Joey system installed back in May we still only had SD locals via Dish so my PTAT recorded my locals in SD. HD locals were turned on on 61.5 a couple of months later. My wife is the primary user of PTAT, I don't have it enabled on the Hopper in my Office. This AM I was looking at the PTAT recordings on the living room Hopper and they all are in SD. My Guide is set to HD only, I can view all three types of locals SD via satellite, HD via satellite and HD OTA, but it appears my PTAT is still recording the SD locals off the 110 satellite instead of the HD locals off 61.5.

I can find no place in the Hopper menus to change the default channels to be recorded for PTAT, so I locked out the SD local channels off the satellite and now all my recordings on PTAT say locked program. I'll leave it that way through tonight's PTAT recording to see if that forces PTAT to record the HD version instead of the SD ones.

Does any one have any suggestions how to force PTAT to record the HD version instead of the SD version of my satellite locals?

Further investigation reveals that Tuesday's recordings were HD but starting Wednesday, all subsequent PTAT recordings are SD.

I just did a power cord reboot of the Hopper and we will see if that helps with tonight's recordings.

Strangely though there are instances where 2 or 3 recordings of the same PTAT program are listed and all are SD, one noted was recorded on 9/14.

This may be a case of the receiver switching from HD to SD when the signal level drops - Maybe I'll do some alignment of my 61.5 dish this afternoon and see if I can get the signal up from the current 55-56 on TP 23 of 61.5.

Hi guys! I just received an update regarding this issue. This is a known issue and our engineers are working to fix it ASAP. There is no work around for this issue. This should be resolved in one of the upcoming software updates. Hope this helps!

Two weeks have gone by.

Any word on when this will be fixed, tired of watching all my local recordings in SD when I have HD available?

My wife had me shut PTAT off and records the prime time locals in HD. I suspect that very few Hopper owners in Lubbock installed the 61.5 dish to get HD. They were not doing the install for free. So they are probably willing to piss off the few who installed the side dish as compared to irritating the majority who refused to pay for the side dish install. Also many folks cannot see the 61.5 dish. I had to move the side dish to the other side of the house to get a clear view.

Just tried PTAT and it is now using the HD channels. Thank you Dish!!!
I replied too fast. The PTAT is showing the HD channels on the Guide. However, when I viewed one of the recordings it was in SD. I cannot figure this out!!!

You might do better to enable individual HD shows than to depend on PTAT to get all instead of what it thinks they are.
You should still get one tuner for the big-4 channels but you get to choose which are saved from the start.

Thanks!! That is what we are now doing. However, It requires a lot more planning and we miss the Autohop.

Have you tried turning on PTAT for just one night a week and just one channel? These should be for shows you don't record on the HD channels. You might get autohop on the HD shows too.

My PTAT channels come from Boston. When I record off NH's ABC local (also in my DMA) I get those shows autohopped. Shows I record from Portland, ME locals (not in my DMA) off OTA are autohopped too.

Mine is also still recording the SD channels.

Maybe if I put aluminum foil over the 110 lnb...

When I added the 61.5 dish to get locals in HD, I was offered to have the whole system moved to the Eastern arc. I refused because I am still getting distant networks on 119. During football season it is nice to get the additional football games from NY and San Francisco. Having distant networks also helps to record Sunday CBS programs on the west coast feed when football games run long. It is also nice to see programs in the spring when locals have weather warnings on the screen. I guess having both the locals in SD on 110 and the HD locals on 61.5 confuses the PTAT system. I actually noticed it uses 2 tuners to record the locals .Tuner 3 gets all 4 networks in SD and tuner 2 gets one of the local networks in HD after Dish tried a fix.

Mine has been acting funny also. Saturday it only recorded the news at 9 on FOX34 and ABC all evening, no CBS and no NBC. Sunday it only recorded ABC, bur all recordings both Saturday and Sunday were HD.

I just checked and all the SD local channels were labeled PT for tonight, so I turned PTAT off and am rebooting. I will then turn it back on, hide and lock out the SD channels and see if it selects the HD ones for PTAT.

I didn't have to hide the SD channels, the HD ones showed PTAT on them this time, but it has not started recording, maybe it takes a day to kick in, we'll see.
