Pryor earns MVP

PIAA Basketball Playoffs: Fight erupts following contest

Players battle after Jeannette victory

Jeannette star Terrelle Pryor was one of many players involved in the fight, although Hempfield assistant coach Rob Stauffer, who was escorting North Catholic to the locker room, told state police he held Pryor back during the altercation. Numerous players from both teams also were involved and police were on the scene after the game investigating the incident. Police said last night the incident, so far, is being treated as a disturbance and no criminal charges have been filed.

North Catholic coach Dave Long claimed Jeannette's team came at his team in a hallway near the North Catholic locker room shortly after the game. He was yelling to police in the hallway after the incident.

Long acknowledged some things said on the court by players during the game and in the handshake line might have played a part in the fight.

"Obviously, there were some exceptions to some things that were said upstairs [during the game and in the handshake line]," Long said. "Obviously, you're dealing with 18-year-olds who are highly emotional. It wasn't a pretty scene."

Pryor said Joe Long, the son of North Catholic's coach and a junior forward, called him a name in the handshake line. Pryor was visibly upset and was held back by teammates from going toward North Catholic's team.

Pryor also said the fight started after a North Catholic player "said some things to us" while Jeannette's team was walking to its locker room in the bottom level of Hempfield's gymnasium. Pryor said other Jeannette players claimed a North Catholic player used a racial slur.

Jeannette's Pryor a popular figure

Jeannette's Terrelle Pryor is a high school senior who still enjoys toying around, but he already has his own action figure - and even he can't believe it.

"It's crazy," said Pryor, who will lead his team into the PIAA Class AA basketball quarterfinals against North Catholic at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hempfield. "I'm like, that's me. It's hard to believe someone would make that. I was just hoping to be a bobblehead some day."

"I started hearing about this Terrelle Pryor kid, so I Googled him and read about all the hype surrounding his football career," said Main, 31, a sports enthusiast and autograph collector. "I thought it would be cool to make him. I looked at a few photos and decided I would make a couple figures."

I don't live or die with Michigan football anymore. Michigan football will not live or die because of one player. The program is much bigger than any one player. Players come and go, but Michigan football keeps on going. I really don't care anymore if he's coming or not. I still say his heart is in Columbus, his dad's heart is in Happy Valley, and I think he is just trying to out last his father on this decision.

Yeah....right. :D

You don't understand our posts ???
We will both be happy if he does come to our respective school , I just think way too much is being made of the situation.

Neither of us said that we don't want him, just that we don't like the situation he's put himself and the perspective schools in.

I'm sure you would want him down there as well, if you had the oppertunity.

Just poking fun guys. Yeah, I would be happy if he went "down there" - but he's obviously decided to play out his college career in obscurity and stay "up here." ;)

WHATEVER team he goes to, he BETTER produce AT LEAST a FEW major bowl bids....ANYTHING OTHER THAN that....he would be a MAJOR BUST!!!
I have to agree, the odds of this kid turning into a major star are still far less than 50-50...potential never won any championships. Does anyone remember that 60's game called Mystery Date? Will he be a dream or will he be a dud?

And before anyone asks questions...it was my sister's game!

AND...not to mention the little game he is playing with all the schools he went on visits to.....as if parading to see which school is gonna payoff the best. I am willing to be that within 2 years of him going to college/leaving to the pros...there will SOME payoff scandal involving HIS NAME.

The Big Ten produces as many NFL players year in and year out as any conference in the country. I think I posted an article about this last season. It would be easier to list the Michigan QB's who did NOT play in the NFL. Lets not start another Big Ten - SEC range war.

You did - I was just kidding again.

Man, I hope this wonder-boy makes a decision soon. The sense of humor on this board is starting to wane. :(

Michigan produced one the best QB in the history of the NFL.

Ohio State produced Art Schlister, must of been all the pressure.

Peyton Manning went to Tennessee.

Kirk Herbstriet is on TV, must of been all the pressure.

I believe the quote says :

The Big Ten produces as many NFL players year in and year out as any conference in the country.

That would be players, no one said they produce the most QB's.

I brought up QB's, Jimbo. See as that this thread is about a QB. McCoy, I have a sense of humor about this, I really do. Your original comment did have a ring of truth to it. I wanted to avoid the Big Ten - SEC thing that got a little out of hand in a previous thread. The truth of the matter with Pryor as far as I'm concerned is that I think the kid has a little too much of a sense of self- importance for my tastes. Too much "look at me" to be a Michigan man. (Of course that could all change if he picks Michigan).:D

I agree 100% Paul. In fact, LSU is fighting to control that same type of ego in Ryan Perrilloux. A few years back, he was sitting in the same position as Pryor is today. Look at him now - one problem after another, and he may be off the team as for as anyone knows. This isn't to say I think Pyror will be like this. From the little bit I've seen of him, he seems to come from a better background.

It tells us everything.

It did not tell you where he was going to school or when he was planning to become a college student and act like a athlete wanting to move on to the next level, all this is doing is prolonging his design making him out to be more of a spoiled "ME" person all the more.
It didn't seem to bother the other 1000's of athletes to sign on the Signing Day like 99 % of the rest of the kids over the last 100 years have done.

I sure hope this is the media's spin on this and not his true behavior, IF he ends up with OSU I'd like to know that they have a fine level headed student /athlete they are dealing with and not a spoiler kid that cares only about himself ... you don't win with that kind of kid.

And NO I'm not blaming the media.

So heisman, what did it tell you, certianly NOT everything ?
The fact that he played the game in PA does not say at all that thats where he's planning to go ....
