My dish is presently located about 110 feet from house on a metal pole. What is the proper way to ground this dish?

Do I need to get a grounding rod and ground it at the dish or take the cable where it comes into the house and cut it, running it to a grounding block on the house, then connect that to a metal rod driven in the ground 4 feet and then run the cable from the grounding block to the reciever?

It doesn't matter where as long as you do! Proper install would say run cables from your Dish to a ground block (ground block goes to THHN, to the 4' rod you mentioned) and from the ground block to your receivers.

You would hate to now what will happen if you don't have a good ground and you have lightening close by
