I need to program my Dish Network remote to an Olevia model 242 LCD TV. I called Dish Network and they were no help. I have tried the self programming technique with no success.

:welcome to SatelliteGuys!!!!!!!

I have ran into a few that I can get to program, even doing the manual scan.

First off I'm thinking by reading everything in entire ke4est forgot the t on can... if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Last I tried on Olevia's I never had any luck. Dish needs to come out with a new updated remote.

Maybe one of those logitech harmony remotes they were advertising during the superbowl would be a solution??

Sorry to tell you but there is no code that will allow your Dish remote to control the Olevia ( I also have a 242) and you can scan 'til your fingers cramp up to no avail. A relatively inexpensive solution IF the TV is in the same room as your receiver is a Sony VL600 learning remote from Walmart's for $25. Its easy to program and use. Unfortunately, it won't do you any good from another room--it's IR only. To my knowledge even the high $$$ learning remotes won't control a Dish receiver via UHF. I'm very happy with the TV for the $$$ but wouldn't buy another because of this. My sister recently bought the 237 and has to use 2 remotes in her bedroom (has Dish).
