I have 5 receivers, one of which has begun to lose signal in the past month requiring a re boot several times a day. This receiver is on the longest run and the Directv contractor used the existing cable when installed. Again this receiver worked fine for the first 5 months)

Signal strength for each satellite is 95 - 99 % when viewed from another receiver.

Directv service came on site and reprogrammed the receiver, however it failed shortly after they left. While at my home, the tech checked the installation location of the dish (installed by one of their contractors). He stated the dish should not have been mounted on a chimney, and due to OSHA regulations he could not get a ladder to the dish to verify alignment. They offered to relocate the dish, but there is not another suitable location from my viewpoint.

He believes my issue with the one receiver is due to a problem with the lnb. Since my other receivers are working fine, I find this hard to believe.

I have swapped receivers with no luck.

I plan to get a ladder to the dish to verify alignment and ensure the lnb is secured.

Would moving the power inserter to the cable run for the failing receiver help ? (I understand I need to switch the cables at the splitter also)

Any other suggestions ?

Dish Type - Slimline-5

The run is about 75 feet max. Again, it worked fine for over 5 months.

No other location to move the dish because the wife does not want to see it.

Do you know that they make dish covers that look like rocks?

Your multiswitch may have a bad output. Try a different one.
With 5 receivers you must have another multiswitch in the system.

You said you swapped receivers with no luck, exactly what happened? Did the problem show up at that location on both receivers. If it did you are looking at a cabling/splitter problem. You don't say it but it sounds like you have a SWM what receivers do you have and what spliiter are you using.

The receiver model is an H21-200. The splitter is a SWS8WB-P. When I replaced the receiver, the same problem occurred.

I have also tried an used port on the splitter, with no problem.

The installer did not run new cable, but utilized the existing cable run.

So, one more piece of info is provided!
You have an SWM installation with an 8 output splitter.
You stated that when you tried a different port on the splitter that you had no problem. Is that correct?
If so, then your problem is the splitter.
