I just had DirecTV installed in my house. I have 3 lines coming from the dish and going to 2 receivers. One of them is a RCA Tivo box. One tuner on the Tivo box works fine with no problems. The other 2 tuners are having a problem where they don't get local channels unless another tuner is tuned to local channels. What could cause a problem like this?

Could be many things, bad multiswitch or bad LNB comes to mind. Do you know what sat you get your locals from? How did the install run the lines? Did he happen to use splitters somewhere?

I get local channels on 110. The installer just ran 2 additional cables from a dish that was already on the roof. It was there when I bought the house this year, but it doesn't seem to be very old. As far as I can tell there are no splitters, just 3 lines coming down from the roof and going to the 2 receivers. I got another dish for free when I bought the receivers. I'm trying to find out if it's worth it to get up on the roof and change the dish, or if that's not very likely to fix the problem.
It's actually 2 satellites that I don't get a signal from, 110 and 119. So I guess locals are on 119. 101 is the satellite that continues to get through when the other 2 don't. That's if only 1 tuner is on locals. If 2 tuners are on locals it works fine. Is there any way this could be caused by the receiver being set up wrong?
