Problem getting remote to recognize receiver

Hello- I have purchased a IR/UHF Pro Dish Network remote on eBay for my 508 receiver. I have tried all the instructions I could find (both from the manual and online) to get the remote set to recognize the receiver; no luck. I am now wondering if the eBay seller was incorrect and this remote will not work with a 508.

The remote has what I think is a model number, 118579, on the back. It has the number "2" on the front of the remote, at the bottom.

Any thoughts or tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What does it say on the back? Some say 6.0, 6.3 etc. If it has a two on the front it sounds like its setup to control TV2 using UHF. Go to DISH Network - Tech Portal and look up your receiver and see which remote it comes with.

that remote will work but you will need the black uhf key for it as the #2 is uhf pro. there is a difference! if the key you have has the #2 in black just flip it and readdress the remote.

It sounds like the OP has a 6.0 remote. The only way it will work with a 508 is to flip to the Green IR tab.

Control code for Tivo Series 2 and VIP k222

Hello-

I just fired Comcast and had Dish installed. My Tivo Series 2 will recognize Dish, show the guide, all the good stuff. But it won't change the channels and I have spent a fair amount of time trying to get it to program, but it can't seem to find the correct code.

Would anyone happen to have the code for the VIP k222 receiver and Tivo Series 2? Or have any suggestions to "find" it?
