Pricing Update from Dish Network

No the page will not be up until 2/1.

Clarity in the 11th hour. That's comforting.

And another thought . . . I wrote HBO and Showtime and told them that I was dropping their programming to reduce the cost of DISH's fee increases. I got a phone call return to the message that I will be returning this week. I think I ruffled some unintentional feathers. Maybe if more subs did this . . . . .

. . . If you want a rough esitmate of how much your bill is going up (or in a few cases DOWN) then please check out http://www.satelliteguys.us/calc.htm :)

Yup SatelliteGuys does it again.
;)

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I have been fretting over this since the topic first came up. But I don't get accurate numbers on my current. The calculator on the current side is $15 higher than my actual bill. Making the $15 adjustment, if it applies here, I will have a $5.01 increase. But it would be nice to know for sure.

I've been watching for the eMail notification that my online bill summary is available. And what's with their servers not being able to accurately label the file you get as your "view bill". I always get .do (which is not a real suffix and the file is not a .doc), when the file should be .pdf. All I have to do is change the suffix and the file reverts and opens correctly. But one would think that this type of problem wouldn't be happening here.

Thanx again!

Thats a awesome idea:)

No doubt AEP numbers are going to drop. Without the DVR fee waived, and the much higher prices for a select group of higher end subs the movie channels will be the first to go.

E should still waive the fee, since most would believe the higher end packages are more profitable and the fee waiver is only 6 bucks.

does e break down package numbers for stockholders?

it would be interesting to see what hapens after this...............

Directv did this very thing a few years back. Their version of AEP -the Premier pack, doesn't allow for a credit for their dvrs either. So DISH is following Directv's lead. Of course Directv only charges $5.00 per extra receiver, NOT $17.00 like DISH - the cable pig.

There is talk now that existing subscribers who have their phone lines hooked up before 2/1 will get a $5 credit. This is not confirmed though.

This seems consistent with the information I was given by a member of their loyalty group a couple of nights ago. I was advised, however, this credit would extend for six months. Of course, this whole thing seems to be changing by the hour and Dish is free to charge any subscriber whatever they want after all the individual credits, etc. are applied. Kind of reminds me of hotel room pricing.

Thanks Scott. Yes, the calculator came up with exactly what I expected. I had always been good about connecting my receivers to a phone line, and the way I understood it the $5 connection fee was a PENALTY for not connecting to a phone line. Now I understand that, although it never showed that way on my bill, it was an additional fee for which I was receiving a CREDIT each month. That, in my opinion, was a hidden fee. I guess it is a good thing that they are correcting it now, but it kinda sucks for those of us who had been playing by the rules all this time. Your calculator shows that my bill is going up by $1 a month, but from my perspective it is really going up by $6 a month. I guess I could trade one of the 622s for a 612, but then I would be in another 2 year contract, and that is just not going to happen. When my contract is up in November I will either go to cable or FiOS if it is finally deployed on my street by then, so I can bundle internet and TV to save a little more. That is one of Dish's biggest weaknesses, the fact that they can not really provide bundling of services to the vast majority of their subscribers, including me.

I don't see how this is a matter of perspective. It is pretty black and white to me. How much is your bill going up (or down) each month? It can only be one amount. Take how much you paid last month and subtract what you paid this month for the same services and you will know how much it went up(or down).

You mean it isn't Rocket Science??:D

I'm getting hit with a $4.03 increase, which sucks as I just got things straightened out over paying for platinum which no longer seems to exist as a separate service. I have classic gold 250, gold hd, dhpp and locals; 722 and a 322 for receivers. the increase is in the receiver fee. It was $5.00 and is now a net of $9.00.
the competition is still more expensive for comparable service as is cable. We do not have FIOS yet so I have no idea how that would compare. So I really can't complain, I just wish there was a way to reduce the outages during heavy rain and snow (I know why it happens, I just wish it could be fixed so it doesn't!)

I totally agree; that really bugs me -- and I didn't have the issue anywhere near as bad when I was with DirecTV.

I have the superstations package which I can't seem to find on the calculator. I guess that if the price is unchanged for the package it doesn't really matter. Just took me a few minutes to figure out why my pre-February 1 bill was incorrect on the calculator.

I received my due in Feb bill today. It is the very same as those of months past. I was thinking I would see a 2 cent increase as the DVR fee goes from $5.98 to $6.00.

Now I just noticed Scott's newer post about a $5.00 credit if the phone line is hooked up. Mine surely is. Does this new news mean my bill will go down $4.98?

DVR Fee up 2 cents minus $5.00 to keep my 722 (primary receiver) hooked to the phone line. I also have a 211. That's all here.

I have 3 duo's "which I own" hooked up to either phone or ethernet. The calculator shows 2 $5 credits, so if that's correct then instead of my bill going up 30%+ it will only go up 15%+. I can't believe it will only be for 6 months, otherwise I will have 2 15%+ increases in a less than a year, sounds kinda high. I did speak with a retention csr and was told that they will have a promo for free replacement boxes like a 211 starting feb 1st and that I could replace my 522 and 322 with 3 of them and save another $10, but I would have to commit to a 2 year contract. I only use the 322 as a duo and the other 2 are in single mode. If that turns out to be true then my bill would go up about $5 but I would have the option of adding more EHD's and have a hd box with dvr option for all my hd tv's. Could this be part of the master plan to replace the old mpeg 2 stuff with mpeg 4? After all, at some point most of what's left will be owned and they will need some big carrots and sticks to make people give up there boxes.

I also just recieved my February bill and it is exactly the same as previous months. I don't see any of the new charges on my bill...maybe next month?

Did you guys read through the thread at all?

The changes will be taking effect on the first bill issued after 2/1/10.
Not the "February bill". The bill issued in February.
No one (except possibly AT&T-billed customers) will see their bills change until after 2/1/10.

Are the transponders changes permanent?

922 pausing every two to three minutes?
