Digital Deck Ships its Complete Home Entertainment System
New Software and Hardware Provides Many Features Including Network DVR capabilities, and Access and Control of iTunes, TiVo and Home Entertainment Devices
Redwood City, CA, May 22, 2006 - Digital DeckT, a leading provider of technology for management of entertainment content throughout the connected home, today announced its Media Connector and Software are now available for immediate sale and shipment through its corporate Web site. The Company also announced these products will be available through major reseller partners by the end of Q2 2006.
Digital Deck's Media Connector Software is breakthrough technology that runs on Windows XP PCs and brings music, live and recorded TV, and photos into every connected room of a home. The Software delivers a simple common television interface for accessing digital music, digital pictures and video, and provides many of today's digital video recorder (DVR) features, making them available in each networked room. These include scheduling of recordings, pausing live television, and rewind/fast forward though recorded programs.
"Today's consumer enjoys a wide variety of choices in home entertainment, but the experience is limited to the rooms where they are set up," said Joe Harris, vice president of marketing at Digital Deck. "Digital Deck connects and manages the live TV, music, photos and DVRs scattered around the home and brings them to every room, affordably and with ease."
Digital Deck links easily with a broad range of popular electronic entertainment devices and services, including integration with:
· TiVo® Series2 DVR -Television programs recorded by the Digital Deck onto the PC can be viewed in the TiVo "Now Playing" list and transferred to the TiVo for playback. Programs recorded on the TiVo DVR will be listed for streaming viewing through Digital Deck. TiVo boxes can be set up to be managed and viewed directly on Digital Deck across the network.
· Apple® iTunes® - Customers who use the Windows version of iTunes can use their Media Connector Remote Control to sort and browse the contents of their iTunes library and securely stream the digital music or podcasts to any connected room in the house. The Media Connector Software communicates with the iTunes application directly so playlists are always in sync, podcasts appear automatically, and changes to the iTunes library are immediately updated in the Digital Deck menu throughout the home.
· flickrT - With their Media Connector, users can access their friends' and families' flickr photo libraries through the television. Since the Media Connector Software communicates directly with Yahoo!'s flickr photo service, any changes made via flickr show up on the television screen automatically.
· Windows MediaT Player - Digital Deck also works with Microsoft's Windows Media Player 10 (with compatible MPEG-2 decoder) to playback television programs recorded from the Media Connector on a PC. Customers can also use Windows Media Player to sync their recordings to supported portable media players, or can transfer their recordings to a notebook PC for viewing while traveling.
"Consumers of digital media are looking for products that provide the power, control, and ease of use to allow them to easily move digital content to traditional consumer electronics products, such as viewing internet video on a television," said Joshua S. Martin, Analyst at market research firm IDC. "Thus, the opportunity for digital home products will be big moving forward, and convergence solutions will play a key role in this market."
An early user of the system, Dave Markus commented "Digital Deck has changed the way I access and use entertainment media and devices in my home. I don't think or care which device or room of the house the pictures, videos, music and other content are located-I simply can access it now and enjoy it from wherever I am. It's a simple way to provide great freedom of entertainment for the family. "
