Next Saturday I will be having Dish installed. Upstairs I will be getting a 311 with the dual tuner I plan on putting it on the landing (quite a large area) of the stairs between the 2 bedrooms that will be accessing it. I was gonna pre run the wire thru the walls as I need to run a telephone line up there anyways. My only question is on the Reciever does it need 2 lines or 1 for the incoming sat signal??? Just trying to save the installer some time and while I already have the fish tape out I might as well pull the coax...

Thank You for any help

If you whant to do a good job I'll recommend to run three cables( two for the dual tuner receiver and one for the second TV line) Make sure all the cables go to the Dish area(outside box) and marked them.

I think you meant to say the 322 (dual tuner)

If I understand your post, I think you might want to reconsider the location for the 322. With the supplied remotes, one infrared and one uhf, only the room with the uhf remote will be able to control the machine (unless of course the room with the IR remote has a direct line of site to the 322 on the landing). I would put the 322 in one of the rooms with a TV.

You will need two RG-6 coax lines from the dish to the tuner. I suppose that you could use a DPP44 switch and do it with one coax line, but that adds unnecessary extra expense. Since it sounds as though you are already going to run one coax line, it is not much more effort to run the second one at the same time.

If you're absolutely set on putting the 322 on the landing (assuming 'remote' from TV1 AND TV2), you can buy a second UHF remote.

Note that the TV1 RF output is NOT stereo. Most people are much better off putting the box next to their better TV of the two, and using RCA (composite video + stereo audio) hookups for it.

Thank You for the replies. I just now did notice I put 311 instead of 322 sorry about that. As for the information about reloacating as I was not aware of the stereo and remote issues I will put them into my bedroom then run the second line to my daughters bedroom... Actually I will be pulling cat 5 for the phone line and since I will already be there I thought I would save the installer some grief n pull the coax also. Will there be any issues of interferance with the cat 5 and the coax being so close if I use quad shield?

Quad shield not even needed - personally, I think quad shield is overkill for almost anything. Cat 5 (phone or ethernet) & satellite are SO far apart frequency-wise that it's not relevant.

Keep your Cat 5 away from house electrical, tho. 60Hz hum can bleed over onto your phone lines due to induction. If they do HAVE to be close (within a foot or two), try to cross the cables at 90 degrees.

AS long as you use Cat 5 with twisted pairs you will be fine. I used it for my phone lines in my house and I have no interference at all. All my coax and cat 5 run with each other all over the attic. The twisted pairs keep the interference out.

Are any new channels coming to Dish Network?

Are there any new channels coming soon?
