I think you are fortunate that someone had already placed your D9234 in Non PowerVU mode (menu, info, info, 4, 0). Without the proper remote you would have been stuck trying to program it.

I'm still fighting the download decoder menu issue but have since picked up another 9234 and it is working fine.

I did a master reset and it still worked fine

Everytime I did that it defaulted to PowerVu. Is your other one still MIA?

nope...much like the Passion, that 2nd Powervu box at my house is vaporware

I e-mailed the person a while back and they said he was getting it back...I waited 2 weeks and e-mailed him again....that was a week ago

Sorry your 2nd one didn't make it yet. I picked up another 9234 and it works great. The first one is still stuck in the Decoder Download menu. I swapped power supplies and front panels hoping I could isolate the problem. Still broke and I have to put it on the back burner for now.

My newly acquired DSR 922 has all my attention at present. Very nice receiver.
