PowerTech DG380 and a SG2100 tube?

I have a question for those of you with a PowerTech DG380. Any idea if the tube off an old SG2100 will fit?

The SG2100 has a 42mm output shaft (tube).
Sadoun sells 42 and 50 mm replacement tubes for the DG280 and '380 motors.

No, they will not interchange. I opened the boxes of a new SG-2100 and a new DG-380 and tried swapping the motor tubes between the two. They do not fit eachother. They are very, very close, but no cigar here. There seems to be a difference in the taper of the motor shafts and the taper and depth of the recess in the tube and neither one will go on all the way.

I would not attempt to modify one tube to fit the other motor. You know the metal that they are made of and they don't take well to drilling, honing or cutting. Your result will likely be very displeasing and unusable for either motor.

Best bet is to buy the tube size you need, they are only $12 each last I checked.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be looking at a getting one soon, I think my sg2100 is slowly dieing. On warm days it works, but on colder days (say 20 degrees or lower Farenheit) it won't move or won't move far enough.

You can disassemble your SG2100 and clean and regrease the main gear at least and you can adjust the backlash on it if needed. If it is becoming sluggish in cold weather, the problem is likely just mechanical and would probably be easily remedied with some fresh grease and a slight adjustment.

However, the DG380 motor is a great one. So you might just like to install it and use the SG2100 as a spare for another project

I think you will be happy with the DG-380. I've been using one for around year with no problems at all. We had a week with temps as low as 20 below at night last year and it moved great. I did have to buy the smaller tube (42 mm) for my 90cm dish as the motor comes with a 50mm. I think it was $12 like AcWxRadar said.

Gordy, thanks for noticing

I noticed the DG380 on our 120cm dish was working great during the last few snow storms we got here. It seems cold weather does not impact it at all, which makes me really glad to offer this motor.
