Thanks! and nice site!!!!

it's just this easy

You can use Google to find your latitude and longitude.
Just put in your city/provence and either latitude or longitude for search words.

I liked the answer from TimeAndDate.Com:
Latitude: 50° 03' North
Longitude: 110° 41' West

Then, you input those coordinates to any of the popular satellite finder programs.
I like this one, though some of the satellites and/or names may have changed.

Code:
           Latitude 50° 3.000'N Longitude 110° 41.000'W

I deleted satellites with negative elevation (below your horizon) :)

Your south bird is the one with closest to zero skew. Anik F2 @ 111.1 W

Az (t) is the true azimuth.
Az (m) is magnetic azimuth, or what you would read on your compass.
And, you should probably double check the magnetic deviation listed, to verify it is correct for your area.
I know it's pretty good for the USA.

Looks like Dish 110 would be the closest

That's actually a better idea.
Especially if you have a spare circular LNB and a $20 satellite alignment meter.
Those DBS birds at 72*, 82, 91, 101*, 110, 119, 148 are wonderful beacons.
Locatinging one or more of those would help you get comfortable finding your way around the sky.
They're very strong, and you can't miss 'em.
But then you'd want to remove the meter and the circular LNB, and put in your proper LNB for the real bird-hunting. :)

*DirecTV - will give strong signal, but receiver won't see much.

another question

Thanks for your reply thus far..
Another question.
There is two angle settings, one is on the motor and one is on the dish.
Which one do i set it too? If Iam setting to the motor, would it be the same elevation that is for the dish, or do i have to compensate at all for it? If so, by how much
Thanks again!

The motor gets set for the same latitude as your latitude, which anole has said is 50

So on the motor, there should be a LATITUDE side and a ELEVATION side

Latitude gets set to 50

The dish elevation is 23 degrees

installation required

Hi Ice Berg
I'm confused, but i'm looking for instructions to install my system. You have understand that I'm not working with any instructions
All I got with the system is the motor installation. The Cd with the instructions to instll doesn't work. All i'm working with is the motor installation handbook. It's no wonder I can't get this figured out. What i need is a picture of the installation of the dih so I can start over with no mistakes. Can you send me a installation cousre by e-mail or fax so that i can figure this out properly. thanks Dwayne

Dwayne, on the side of the motor will be markings for angle on one side, and latitude on the other. Set the latitude on the motor to 50 degrees. Place the motor on a perfectly vertical pole, it must be plumb in all directions. As Iceberg says, set the dish itself to approximately 23 degrees, which will look like near vertical. You will adjust the dish up and down, but not the motor angle.

Basically you set your receiver to usals and tell it to go to your true south satellite, then you move the motor on its pole left and right until the signal peaks, then lock it down. Set the receiver to a live tp on the true south satellite so you have a strong signal to look for. After you have peaked it on your true south satellite, you can then use the receiver to motor it to other satellites. You can make minor adjustments along the way in the up and down by moving the dish, not the motor.

finding satellite

Hi Guys
I have a model 2100 motorized dish
The only signal or satellite I could find was intelsat 5 @ about 158 degrees
I have locked on that satellite with my receiver, the problem is I need to know how to reset the receiver so that it will go to the next satellite Galaxy 10R
When i choose 10R on the receiver It does not automatically go there
Also the dish does not move to fine tune to that satellite
So what I need is instructions to reset or fine tune to Galaxy 10 R

thanx Guys

Do you have the satellites setup to use the motor? You have to set the receiver to use either DiSEqC 1.2 or USALS (I recommend starting with USALS) to move the dish. You'll have to input the latitude and longitude of your location.

I don't know the latitude or longitude of my location or how to enter it
any suggestions

Iceberg
Your help has been great, but I can't get any help from GO Satellite.com
It is unfortunate that they can sell motorized dishes deceitfully without instructions.I have contacted them several times but they refuse to help or deal with me fairly. It appears that they are only interested in the sale of FTA dishes but they don't service their customers after they have been paid. Therefore I am going to return the dish to them and get a refund.(Hopefully) It was promised in the beginning that if I wasn't satified that they would deal with me fairly. It appears that I have made a huge mistake in dealing with GO Satellite.com.Please let the public know that they are only interested in selling dishes with no company support.I would hate for anyone else to experience the problems I have had with GO Satellite.com
Do you have any suggestions as to where I could buy a FTA Satellite with a support system. Thanks for your help Iceberg,Signed FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

The Viewsat doesn't like to play well with a motor. That has been discussed here many times.

But I guess the question is have you followed the info we have supplied? The manual usually doesn't help so that is why we are here. We have given you the info for the motor settings and the dish settings. You have a true south of Dish 110 so it should be pretty easy to aim but in your orignal post you didnt specify which LNB you purchased.

Maybe a setting is wrong on the reciever.
