A thread for us to post our PC or MAC performance. It would be interesting to see what people have and do to their computers to make them perform better.

Also, if you would like to share information on some good performance testing software that would be great as well.

Using Windows Experience Index I always had a score of 5.4 because that is the highest score you could get with a HDD

Now that I replaced my HDD with a SSD my total score is now 7.4, with my SSD getting the highest rating possible of 7.9

The weakest link in my system is my graphics card, AMD Radeon HD 6700. It is still a good card especially considering I do not game.

Here are my scores with my laptop. Graphics aren't great but it is fine since I don't game on it.

Wow 8.1 on SSD? I thought 7.9 was the highest possible score?

Windows 8 goes up to 9.9 on the scores now. I bet your SSD would get better than 7.9 or even my 8.1 if you were to upgrade.

OH...Interesting.

I have a copy of Windows 8 from my brother-in-law whom works for MS. I haven't installed it yet. I don't think I will.

Here is my laptop score on Windows 7.

BTW, my AMD Phenom II 6 core 3.0 ghz processor on my desktop gets a higher score than my Intel i7 quad core 3.4 ghz processor on my laptop. Both are tubo busted to 3.8 ghz.

I did overclock my AMD processor to 3.5 ghz at one time, but I had to slow the memory down and there was no noticeable speed difference. I ran it at 4.0 ghz for a short time, but my fan was running too much and the temps were always at the high end of normal. Of course once I replaced the HDD in my desktop with a SSD, then there was a huge difference in performance.

Windows 8 isn't that bad as long as you install Start8.
I was thinking of doing that, but since I will be in the start8 window all the time, there really isn't a point in me running 8 if I am going to use it like 7. If I got a touch screen monitor, then I definitely will install 8

Don't forget that ghz is only a small piece of the puzzle. My laptop is only a 2.20 ghz i7 Processor but it scores higher than your AMD and Intel i7 at 3.4 ghz.

The reason why my graphics are higher than most laptops is because I have an HD monitor and a BD.

Can't wait to try this out with my new SSD HDD. When I did my big computer upgrade I think all my scores were in the mid to high 7s except for my platter HDD, which was like a 5.3. I really think it's dumb that they mark your overall score as your lowest score. Wouldn't it make more sense to have it be your AVERAGE score?

Update: Ran a test. The score on my platter HDD was 5.4. Since installing the SSD things have improved a bit..

It probably goes by lowest because your system can only operate as efficiently as the lowest item allows it to do so.

BTW, which graphics card are you using?
