We had a severe thunderstorm on Monday night. My neighbor lost basically all of his electronincs.

I was luckier with one exception. I have 0 signal strength on all three televisions hooked up to my direct TV. Receievers seem to be working....I can watch recorded shows, and the TV's are fine. I just have no satellite signal.

I called Direct TV and they promised to promptly send out a technician in two weeks. I can't miss that much football!!!!!!!!

I'm not a Techie but I'm not completely helpless with this type of stuff. Anybody have any suggestions of things to check?

I had the same thing happen earlier this summer.

A tree not too far down the street from me was struck by lighting.

Lost my signals. Same situation as you.

Tech came out and found the coax connections at the LNB's were fried. Almost to the point of being welded to the female connectors. A quick change of the LNB assembly and new connections and I was back in business.

Lighting can do strange things. Oddly enough the tree is fine (so far). Big scar down the trunk and dead grass leading away from the tree.

I was lucky, As soon as I can get my electrical service upgraded it's going to include whole house protection.

Rebooting receivers didn't help.

I'm afraid that something on the dish is fried similar to talos' situation. If that's the case I'm stuck waiting for the tech to come out.

I lost my signals after a storm and had a tech come out. The receiver would go into the setup mode and scan the sats, but had no signal on any of them. There was no DC voltage on the LNB input to the receiver. He declared my receiver dead.

He then unplugged the receiver and plugged it back in. Voila, everything was okay.
