A 30 year future for DIRECTV (and DBS in general) is hopelessly optimistic.

The content provider contracts that keep businesses beholden to satellite only last a few years so they can be rooted out fairly quickly as the market demands.

Direct-to-Home satellite is still doing well in other countries but their distribution and funding models are entirely different.
