have a new 2700a IR unit with the following symptoms:
Powers up fine, displays B75 info then "ON" & TV output works and I'm at a language selection screen.
However, when I attempt to use the remote to select English, I found that the remote does not work (with the unit).
I verified/changed battery power & IR output via my camera phone (yes I hit the SAT button). I tested various buttons including Power from all angles & at really close range. Hoping it was just an issue w/ the remote, I downloaded Logitech's Pansat 2700A codes into my Harmony Universal Remote and have the same result. It seems that the unit is unable to see or accept any IR. I popped off the cover to verify that the IR receiver was aimed towards the window & it seems OK. (Anyone know what those 3 pins should read on a DMM? I have a standby IR recvr replacement to solder on, if advisable)
The unit is responsive (not locked-up/frozen):
I can press the front panel's Up or Down buttons to move thru the selection list.
I also tried to connect the cable and reflash the Factory B75 code. The download never progresses past 0%. I tried various versions of the GT loader & connected the null cable to another PC to verify it was working OK. Then I tried any & everything that can load any app, ch list or ROM to the unit. None were able to communicate with it.

The unit works great: if you just like to move around the lang selection screen....and nothing more.

Please let me know if there's something I can try or how I can get this repaired.

Thank you!

If you have any fluorescent lights near or around the receiver, turn them off and try it again. Fluoresent lights play havoc with some IR remote controls. Good luck.

A Tip To See If Your Remote Works!

It just could be the remote. There is an easy way to check to see if your remote works or not, look and see it blinks when you press any button. Now, your naked eye cannot see inferred but cameras can! I never tried a digital camera by just holding a button and clicking off a picture but video cameras or CCD cameras can see the flash inferred emitting from the remote . An old trick a former radio station engineer told me about. I will try to snap a picture of my CNX Mini remote to see if digital cameras can see it on post it here at the end of me typing this reply! And if your camera has a preview LCD screen, a picture is not really needed! You will see it working right off!

The answer is YES! :D

A digital camera can see inferred emitting (Most remotes Emit Purple Light) from the remote when placed up to the camera lens! Now you can see if it is actually your remote working or not! Hope that helps!

I have almost the same problem. Only thing is that my problem started after purchasing a used receiver with 8.8.8.8. on the front display (I didn't know it at the time). I figured the wrong bin was installed in the receiver, so I jtagged it. It still displays 8.8.8.8. on the front but on my tv it boots up in the language section but the receiver will not respond to the remote and I've tried different pansat remotes and the receiver will not respond to neither of them. And like garyyork, I've also tried to load flash by null cable and download never progresses past 0%. Ive gone through this process over and over again and still stuck on language section and can only use the buttons on receiver to go up and down and the off/on button.

Most satellite receiver remotes have a line of buttons, such as:
STB
VCR
AUX
SAT/TV
SAT/RAD
TV/RAD
a fat finger can sometimes accidentally hit one of the other buttons and the remote won't work for the receiver. Try hitting the STB button and see if that's what has happened? Also, the battery could be dead, or maybe the batteries were installed wrong/backwards...? Good Luck..!!!!
