I have a Fortec Classic NA, which has a S/PDIF output using a TOSLINK fiber-optic cable. I'd really like to be able to decode AC3 signals such as those found on some of the PBS stations. I really haven't had much luck finding an economical way to do this yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A question for Iceberg...What is the brand of your AC3 player?

Thanks!

(I'd like to thank Tron for clearing up my confusion on TOSLINK/,S/PDIF differences. If I'm still confused it's my fault! If anyone is interested (or confused like me), this page does a good job (I think) of explaining TOSLINK/SPDIF data transmission.):

If anyone is interested, I started a more general thread about AC3 previously:

If you already have a home theatre setup and just need a receiver that does AC3, I am using the Sherwood RD-6500 and it does the job. It was $127 at Circuit City. If you need everything, I would check out the package deals at Walmart etc. Just make sure it has the right connection.

Go to ebay.com and check out item # 5844195668 Toslink cable with the new connector explained!

Eight dollars + fgt and this guy gets all my business ...great pricing, honest and fast delivery with excellent products.
If you need fancy packaging...not the right seller!!!
