Why is the 612 off the list of receivers with PP capability?

Because it has no such capability.

I don't see the point of using PIP when you have a multi-tuner DVR. I just do what djmaui does (and swap back and forth between tuners) or I record shows and watch them full screen.

What they do not mention is how to change channel in the PIP window.

Press the right arrow (browse) button.
Enter or scan to the channel number you want then press the PIP button.

Cool. Works great on my 722. I always learn something new here and thats why I love this forum.
