Pioneer Adds Entry-Level Home Theater Receivers to Elite Line

Pioneer has added two models to its Elite series of A/V receivers: the SC-71 ($1,100) and SC-72 ($1,400). The 7.2-channel receivers will be available this month and offer multi-zone and multi-source capability, 4K Ultra HD upscaling, high-resolution audio playback, wireless control via Pioneer’s free iControlAV2013 app (for Apple and Android device), and the company’s Class D3 amplification, which is designed to minimize distortion at high output levels. The SC-71 is rated to deliver 7 x 170 watts and the SC-72 7x170 watts, both into 6 ohms; the SC-72 features an aluminum front panel and insulated dual chassis.

I normally go with Pioneer however my last experience was not a good one. These seem to match up well with the Denon X series although you get Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and 9.2 pre outs for expansion for around the same price. Looks like you get more juice though with the Pioneer. Worth checking out. I always like Pioneer's warm sound.

I tend to look less at the given power, and how they do in tests like HTM, which tests 2 channel output, 5 and 7. Its surprising how far some models amps fall off. Im pretty happy with the 3313's amp, and its done well in tests. Plus im power super efficient speakers :)
