Well, they're back now...but did anyone else have problems today? Lost all Phoenix locals, HD and SD sometime in the last 24 hours. I checked the signal meter- they all looked super low, but I haven't checked them since they updated the software...anyway they were all green. Tried tuning into a few basic channels like USA that I knew must be at 119, then Boomerang and a few other things I was sure was at 110, then some Voom channels off 129...all fine.
I thought maybe the channel mapdown was busted- checked for the upper channel numbers, but nothing showing between Sirius and the 9400s.
I had locked a ton of duplicate channels, so I unlocked the system- still nothing. Finally, I ran a check switch and let the guide re-download- nothing.
So, I made the call to the customer support center somewhere near the earth's core. I let them run me through some typical nonsensical troubleshooting steps. Eventually, he tried to make me scan for locals. Now, I only get one OTA channel here- Channel 2- and it was coming in fine. I knew this, because he asked me to tune to Channel 3 about 83 times, and every time it would revert to Channel 2. So I finally snapped on him- "Why should I scan for over the air locals when there aren't any more! I only get them via DISH!"
So he finally agreed to let me cancel the locals scan and rehit the receiver...which is what I asked them to do in the first place. Wait two minutes and...nothing.
He runs me through a few more odd steps (checked my software version), and then finally asks me to run a check switch. And...ta-da...all better.
So, after they rehit the receiver, should you just always run the check switch immediately? Will the hit not "take" until it re-downloads the guide? I swear I've actually seen new channels turn on before without running a check switch.
Also, are Phoenix locals coming off 110 or 119 now? My 110 signal is pretty high, but 119 is pretty low. Still, if it was a sat problem, wouldn't I have lost EVEYTHING off that bird?
