An in-game trailer exclusive to Nvidia has been released for The Phantom Pain



I'll say it again.. it's REALLY weird to see Boss voiced by Keifer Sutherland instead of David Hayter. He basically made that character his own, and to hear anyone else's voice come out of Snake/Boss is just awkward, not to mention as I said before it makes me feel like I'm playing as Jack Bauer instead of Snake/Boss. It's like if the new Terminator movie had Sylvester Stallone as the T-800.
 
Treyarc released minimum specs for Black Ops 3. Apparently they're really trying to make the PC version a high quality port, as opposed to CoD games traditionally just being standard ports.

Ouch, The minimum spec GPU is a GTX 470. This a a GPU that came out over 5 years ago. That i3-530 was the low end Intel processor from 2010 too. This game is built to run on ancient hardware (by computer gaming standards). They do say that the game has strong GPU scaling support so hopefully that means that there are high end graphics settings as well.

Either way, this won't affect me. My college buddies who get this game every year will be playing on PS4 so that's where I will be too.
 
Also to be fair CoD has always been more about a fluid experience than it has been pushing graphic fidelity. But like you I'll be playing the game on a PS4 as well, mainly because I typically just play the story mode then send back. I just haven't been able to get back into CoD Multiplayer the way I did with the original Black Ops. Hell I purchased the game AGAIN on the 360 a few months ago just so I could go and play those old maps again with bots, who are rather competent opponents, although sadly their revival tactics have MUCH to be desired.

I'm still holding out for Duke. I'd love to see a modern take that isn't held back by all the awful design decisions that held back DNF. I'm actually replaying that game in some spare time to see if it really was as bad as people thought it was and if I was being too kind at the time (I gave it a 5 out of 10, when most were trashing it much more than that.) Also it helps that now it's on PC, as opposed to the awful 360 port that had god awful loading times.

This is becoming a rather disturbing trend for 2K. It seems that it's not very good in securing music rights. so it just gets the rights for 5 years and then pulls the game off of stores when the renewal comes up. Sometimes the games come back, like for GTA: San Andreas and Bioshock 2. Other times, like the original Mafia, it just decides to not renew/remove the music and the game can't be purchased again.
 
So Trine 3 came out recently, and apparently it isn't very good and people are mad. And apparently all the hatred got to the company and they issued a response to the criticism directly, which is something you rarely see nowadays. They're rather candid about their decision making. The head of marketing took the brunt of the blame.

I've never played the previous Trine games and I wasn't aware that there was a lot of criticism for Trine 3 or that it even came out. Honestly, I think this is all a little ridiculous though.

As a group, I think gamers take things way to far. The outrage about every little thing that happens and the hatred that gets spewed at developers of just about every game goes way over the line in my opinion. If you read the comments on a an average video game article (anything involving EA comes to mind) on IGN you might walk away thinking that the people who made the game are as bad as Hitler.

People need to tone it down a bit. I'm sure no one at these companies wants to put out a bad product. They are trying to make something good and in some cases demands gamers make are flat out unrealistic. That being said, I'm not trying to say that you should go out and buy every game because the developers tried their best. Not at all. If many of these same people who are the most upset would learn to wait even a day or two after release to see how people are liking it a lot of this could be solved. Vote with your wallet and only give your money to developers who earn it.

Normally that is the case but Trine 3 is a unique scenario. It was an Early Access game which many people pretty much "had" to buy at that point or else the game would not finish being made. The devs are like a team of 20 people from Finland, so this isn't like a standard release with a big publisher behind it. Also, while the game was revealed to be shorter than previous Trine games, what people did NOT know going into it was a shorter story that was not complete. This is basically Trine 3 Part 1, so basically the fans of Trine 1 & 2 which were presumably complete stories on their own got a game that was significantly shorter and technically incomplete.

Overall I think it's good for the devs to come out and explain and take some responsibility for what people were complaining about. You didn't see 343 come out and explain themselves when the MCC was a steaming pile of crap. You didn't see Rocksteady explain themselves when the PC port of Arkham Knight was clearly unfinished. I think as long as the anger isn't overblown that is fine, but really as they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Rocket League has sold a million copies on Steam alone. Combine that with the numbers they are doing on PS4 and this has to be one of the biggest indie success stories yet.

It's been out for nearly 2 months and it's still the #2 best selling game on Steam right now. Only Metal Gear Solid V is selling better.
 
Yeah it's good to see this game be successful. It is undeniably fun. However, it is interesting that this is a sequel yet very few people seem to realize that. I didn't realize it myself until recently when I saw this review. You'd think some of the game media would at least compare it to the original.
