Its pretty long and I recommend reading the whole thing. I'd love to hear peoples comments.

Nothing new. As alluded to in the article, the Pentagon has published studies on this for many years.

Yes, the situation is serious. But some folks can sensationalize the Second Coming. It's pretty big on it's own, no need to stoke the fires further.

The author gives short shrift to technological improvements. It appears he has decided upon a conclusion, and then presents everything he can to support it. Even if it means distorting and ignoring many facts.

The end is always nigh- just ask the endless parade of kooks and super pessimists that have always dwelled among us.

I believe his million dollar fuel cells are now a fourth of that price from 5 years ago. He has completely ignored the advances in extraction of oil from oil shale and coal- it seems to be cost effective now, and plants are being constructed as the pilots have proven the technology (microwave based). And it won't take anything remotely close to 15 years to build these plants, similar to refineries. He gives short shrift to lithium battery developments, as he does developments in the conversion of algae to fuel. Not to mention his prediction of doom for nuclear power, by conveniently ignoring the reprocessing cycle and plutonium. Even with fission, nuclear power can be self sustaining indefinitely. Running out of uranium does not mean running out of nuclear power. And do you really think in 100 or 200 years, there will be no developments that address the waste problem? Oh, right- it won't happen because we'll all be dead then, or eating grubs. Well, it won't be a problem for us then, will it?

Yes, it appears obvious he wrote it in 2003. And inadequately updated it in 2007. Indeed, the sky is falling. We're all doomed. He'll just keep moving the "drop dead" date ;) further into the future. It's all a conspiracy, run on a global scale by unbelievably prescient geniuses under the tightest security. But he is the one person able to discern The Truth and reveal all. And the mainstream media won't, because they're all owned by conspirators.

Horrified that it takes more energy to produce liquid fuels than they produce? That's how it works. We "spend" more to get energy in a more convenient, i.e.- liquid, form.

Pebble bed reactors are passively safe. That energy could be used to power plants producing liquid fuels from solid fuels. And to purify or even distill water.

Beware someone who ends his article implying there is no hope, save your last bullet for yourself- and then pitches his products to you. If there's no hope, why bother selling anything?

This guy reminds me of Gary North. Those that are terrified can google him, and see the same sort of stuff, until his audience wandered away. We didn't collapse over Y2K, there was no monetary collapse justifying his dictum to hoard gold, etc etc etc.

Have a nice day.

Read some of the links in the article. It appears to be part of a mutual admiration society of people who appear to believe the earth would be better off without people- and don't want any solutions to be found.
