PBS-HD on D*

I have a question. I'm expecting my LSS 3200A LG receiver to arrive this week. I don't care about my "local" over the air HD signal. However, am I to understand that if you live in certain areas that you can get CBS HD and soon NBC HD without an OTA antenna and it will be available right throught the satellite? Just curious. I get the local NY channels.

I don't know why they don't carry the PBS-HD channel either. It's a great channel and it could be carried as a national PI just like PBSKids and PBSU are.

As for the locals, since you get the NY locals, you will be able to get CBSHD, NBCHD, and FOXHD, from DirecTV, so aren't you a lucky fella ;)

PBS is well known for being a local channel broadcast from local areas, such as universities. Since these networks are funded by donations locally, it would be quite hard to get folks to shell out the big bucks to advertise on a national PBS.

I pick up PBS the strongest of any OTA HD channel.
