Hey, guys... just signed up to be a Pub member (finally). I was going to use a Credit Card to get access instantly, but I used PayPal instant transfer instead, thinking that would do the same (I thought the eCheck was the only one with a delay)... doesn't appear that's the case.

So, how long does it take for my Pub membership to be "recognized" using that method? Just curious...

Thanks for the great site! It's definitely saved me way more than $20 in time and money.

Apparently not long, as your title is now pub member / supporter.

THANK YOU for supporting SatelliteGuys!!!!

Welcome to the Pub!!

Looks like your account has been upgraded already. See if you can get into the Pub forum.

Thank you for supporting Satelliteguys!!

Usually 3 to 4 days for Echecks, but everything else is done in a few minutes automatically. :)

With that said thanks for your support!

It took as long as it took me to return to here from paypal. I checked a thread I subscribed to and it already said Pub Member under my handle.

Welcome to the Pub and thanks for the support!!

Don't use PayPal Instant Transfer

Never mind! LOL

For anyone else wondering this, the answer is about three minutes. :)

Yes, it's quick, but only if you have a linked credit card on file. That's because they will authorize the funds on that card in seconds, and yet still use your bank account to fund the transaction. This is why using PayPal instant transfer is a bad idea: If you don't have a linked credit card, you run into the problem where they will wait until your bank account transaction clears (usually 3-5 business days) before releasing the money to the payee. The way to avoid the delay is to have a backup credit card linked on the PayPal site. However, once you do have a linked credit card, there is no benefit to using instant transfer from your bank account. And in fact there are a number of drawbacks. You should always use your credit card with PayPal for the greater protections it provides. Because they will authorize your backup card anyway, it does you no good to use an Instant transfer. See many other reasons why you should NEVER use instant transfer here: userscripts.org/scripts/show/23580
