MENU>EXTRAS has a music channel called Pandora. I entered a favorite artists name. Then I hear selections from that artist and other artist that play the same type of music. The sound is excellent through my Bose system. Although it is ad sponsored, I have yet to hear more than two ads per day. So far I have four stations. Deuter, Karunesh, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. When I added Pandora to my second DVR, I was prompted to go to www.Pandora and enter the password on the screen. On my second DVR the Pandora sound is much louder than Directv programming.
There is a button for skip track. And another for thumbs up-thumbs down for the track that is playing.
Nice. This gives more control than the SONIC channels.

I subbed long before D* added it. No ads and the twelve song a day skip limit is removed. It also has higher sound quality when I listen on my computer.

I pay for Pandora for a few reasons.

1. No ads
2. Higher audio quality 192 Kb
3. Skip limit increased

but not yet on all recorders (ie. not the HR34) .. to add insult to injury, according the Engadget review, its already available on Hopper
