Ok. So you are using an optical cable am I correct? If so, turn HDMI audio off in the setup menu of the player and turn secondary audio on. Set the DD and DTS output to bitstream. LEt me know. Also, did you assign the inout in the receiver? Always gotta ask.

Everything sounds right with the 55 setup, so you will need to go into the setup menu of the receiver. I'm not familiar with the Sony's but Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, etc. all have an option in the menu for analog or multichannel. Many receivers will also let you toggle through sound fields either on the fron control panel or the remote. One of them is usually MC.

There are speaker adjustments. I can't remember what menu you make adjustments (I'm out of town for a few days). Change from 2 + 5.1 to just 5.1. You currently have it set for 7.1.I did not set any sound settings for speakers on the DB55. Will the sound just be handled by how the speakers are set on the AVR?
Thanks and Happy New Year to all.
That sounds right with the 5.1.TeamE,
I have it set to:
Analog Audio Output : 2ch (downmix) + 5.1 ch (not 7.1)
the only options available were the 2ch + 5.1ch OR 7.1
Even if I could change and make speaker settings from the BD55 instead of where I assume they are still controlled by the (old) AVR, I will not bother making adjustments. My new Denon 1909 will hopefully arrive next week. Then I will let it do it's magic via Audesey.
