Paid OTA TV Expanding - How it Impacts Free OTA TV

When I managed a fleet (amongst other hats) some years back, we used Enterprise for maintenance, leasing and sales. They have the largest database in the world for maintenance data.

They determined that past 90,000 miles, a transmission flush was just as likely to cause damage as to fix anything. We suspected it was just stirring up sediment and distributing it. FWIW.

Now we can all watch as EVs continue to increase their market share.

That's all well and good, but the elephant in the room is that the majority of consumers cannot afford them. It will take literally banning internal combustion vehicles to force the majority of people to EV's.

Yes, there are bans. No doubt, more coming. But the cost of fuel may be a driver. And more folks will realize that the reduced costs of operating and maintaining an EV will gradually offset the initial cost.

The companies that I worked for didn't even do a transmission fluid/filter change at the recommended intervals. It's no wonder so many transmissions went bad. Companies are just as lax on maintenance as ordinary consumers.
Now we can all watch as EVs continue to increase their market share.
Why are you so intent on promoting EVs? Do you have stock in that industry? Just let people buy what they want.

Until they have to replace the battery pack or start paying more road taxes in the form of higher electric costs.
 
Yes and it's intentional. Very intentional. There's no rush to buy EV's when gas is $1.89, just sayin'. :)
It's up to $3.23 for 87 octane here and it's expected to go higher. To me, $3.23 is peanuts but I don't drive all that much anymore. You'll be lucky to see me drive 5,000 miles/year.
 
Again, my battery pack has an 8 year 100% warranty. Those packs are designed for 350,000 to 500,000 miles. And I’ve previously posted about high mileage EV clubs.

Good luck with your EV. It'll probably be another 5 years before we find out the true cost of owning an EV. It might take 100 years before we find out if they'll save the planet.
 
Most of the stations that serve my area are located 50 miles away in Portland. There is one 2.6KW Spanish language station that shares with a local community access station but neither particularly appeal to me. At such low power, I expect that HD Radio won't survive the 6+ mile trip from the tower since I don't have LOS.
The HD Radio sidebands may not be transmitted as strongly as the primary signal, but don't underestimate the error correction they've included in the protocol. My receiver regularly pulls in the HD signal from stations that are barely listenable on analog, usually showing a 15-20% bit error rate, but still recovering the digital signal 100% without any artifacts. This is on stations about 50 miles away, Tiger Mt. where most of the Seattle FM transmitters are located.

I listen to a lot of HD radio.

Took my new portable Sangean unit with me this week to Vegas- working great and sounding great!
