I am a Patriots fan, but I guess I will put my 2 cents in, Cowbows will beat the Packers.
Score 30-27 Cowbows wins.

Boo on the Patriots. They should have forfeited their game against the Jets.

Go Cowboys!!

Packers-Cowboys: The big game few will see

I am torn between my loyalty to the NFC Central (long-time suffering Lions fan) and my soon-to-be home in Dallas. I gotta go with Brett Favre...would love to see him back in the SuperBowl.

On a side note, there was a front-page article in USATODAY this morning about how less than 40% of the public be able to watch the game due to the carriage dispute between the NFL Network and Cable.

Someone needs to figure out how to handle this stuff, because it's only going to get worse. We've already got these team or league-owned networks popping up (YES, MASN, BTN, NFL, NBA, etc.) and pulling games off of other networks, and they obviously feel like they can make money (or save money, at least) by doing it. Other football conferences are waiting to see how the BTN negotiations play out to launch their own networks, which is why the cable companies are still trying to hold out.

I think eventually it's going to get to the point that nearly all sports are on "owned" networks or subscription packages - the problem is that they can't all be on the basic cable tier, at least you wouldn't think so - so I don't know how it's going to get resolved...

Yep, I can't wait for the Big Ten Network to place an exclusive on the Michigan-Ohio State game next fall...and I am just a little worried about receiving the Big Ten Network when we move to Dallas and sign up with FiOS TV. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, it is only going to get worse. ESPN and the NFL Sunday Ticket has shown the Big Money $ubscriptions are with $ports...I get a feeling it is only going to get much worse.:(

I don't need sports that bad to have to pay a subscription for it.

Fortunately all the teams I like are local, so the local channels will cover them as well.

Not always the Case. In Orlando the local basketball team (The magic) Have taken their games off local broadcast and put them on FoxSports Florida so now those who cant afford cable cannot see the games and those who have bright house can not see the games. Its amazing how greedy these sports franchises/organizations are getting.

and last year the florida gators majority of their games were on PPV, but I guess they realized people were not going to pay so this year they were on CBS.

For now. That was the case here in Indy a few years back also, but now we have all Pacers games on FSN where they used to all be on free TV, and many Hoosier and Boilermaker games on the BTN.

Things are changing, and I think it will get to a point that you have to have those networks to see the games, even in the local market.

I think the NFL is forgetting what made them the most profitable sport in the USA - THE FANS! They're biting the hand that feeds them. Fortunately I have D*, so I'll get to watch what should be a great game. BOO NFL!, for excluding 74M homes tonight.

Isn't this what every business in America does? Try to take as much of a bite out of your customer base as you can before they bite back.

Why is it the NFL's fault? Both DISH and DirecTV carry the NFL Network. Why can't the cable companies come to agreement with them? Charter doesn't carry it, but a smaller cable company in a town near me does. And if Charlie is paying for it, it can't be that expensive.:)

I don't have access to cable. When ESPN started carrying a lot of Wisconsin games back in the '80s, I couldn't see them. No state legislators were screaming about me not being able to see those games. I couldn't see them at home until E* and D* prices got down to where I could afford them, after they were invented. If people want to see games on the NFL Network, let them get a sat service. Or they can complain to their cable company until they carry it. NFL wants their channel carried in a basic tier so nobody has to pay an additional fee to see it. Not because they care one way or the other if you see it but because they'll make more money that way.

The other thing that bugs me about this is how ESPN Radio has been talking about it. Hosts have demonized the NFL for doing exactly the same thing ESPN does. ESPN wants to be carried on basic tiers so more customers have it available. One guy mentioned that NFL wanted the outrageous price of 70 cents a sub. I've heard ESPN gets over a buck. For compelling content like poker tournaments!

Sorry for the rant. I guess I just don't feel sorry for the cable company because they'll never offer me service. I do kinda feel sorry for the people that want to see this game but can't because a couple of groups of billionaires are fighting over it. But I bet most of those 74 million homes could get a sat signal. Maybe they should switch instead of complaining to politicians and getting them involved.

Most cable companies dont have NFL Network or even NFL Network in HD, so DirecTV wins in this field! DirecTV> Cable TV always.
I just have to thank to god this game is not broadcasted on NBC.
I saw the game replay from last week Patriots vs Eagles on the NFL network replay this morning much better quality, NBC sucks!

NFL Network Schedule

After "60 Minutes" expose on Tom Brady, I have new respect for him...
