Digital Playground Plans First Blu-ray Release

After deciding to release only on the HD DVD format, Digital Playground has gone neutral and will release their adult film 'Pirates' on Blu-ray this January. The main feature will be presented in 1080p, and unlike the HD DVD counterpart, all extras will come in 1080p as well. No other technical specs are available at this time.

As to why Digital Playground decided to switch after being a die hard HD DVD supporter, founder Joone commented, "A lot of people were emailing that bought a PlayStation and they were basically saying, 'When are you guys going to release Blu-ray?'"

Not that I missed Pron on Blu-ray, but anything that goes neutral from the HD-DVD side it benefits us

I was going to put a more sensationlist title on it by saying twice in one week does Blu-Ray get something HD-DVD has had from the very start-- support of major porn studios and PiP.

Keep up the good fight. Blu-Ray might even start *gasp* selling standalones and get 'net interactivity in more than just one title.
